07:08:58 FrankW: I'm a day late for the meeting, aren't I?
07:09:01 : * FrankW sighs.
07:09:11 FrankW: I have a terrible track record for making these meetings.
07:15:14 lmaurer: Hello Frank => I just have a question concerning the conference book => is it still ok with you wife for the editorial ?
07:16:03 FrankW: yes, she agreed to my volunteering of her.
07:16:10 FrankW: When will there be something for her to look at?
07:17:18 lmaurer: what do you need ?
07:18:31 FrankW: The task is mostly spelling/grammar/understandability cleanup on the document, is that right?
07:18:39 FrankW: Or have I miscontrued the task?
07:18:54 lmaurer: I think there is a missunderstandin :- )
07:19:06 FrankW: Ah, perhaps you can explain?
07:19:44 lmaurer: We need somebody who will write the editorial and not only cleanup...
07:20:03 lmaurer: do you think somebody could help us ?
07:20:28 FrankW: Ah, she doesn't know the domain area that well, so she wouldn't be a good choice to write an editorial.
07:20:47 lmaurer: But we will need also cleanup for the all document... if she is also volunteer for that ?
07:21:07 FrankW: Yes, she would be happy to do "copy editing" sort of work. This she is good at.
07:21:11 lmaurer: Do you think the president of the OSGeo could write this editorisl :- )
07:21:15 FrankW: What exactly is the purpose of the editorial?
07:22:58 lmaurer: Just to introduce the conference book, to explain the big transformations of the FOSS4G world this few months and to welcome readers => ...
07:23:23 FrankW: OK, I think I could do that.
07:23:25 lmaurer: it should not be a presentation of the OSGeo ( it will be included into an other page )
07:23:33 FrankW: Should it also be thanking conference organizers and such?
07:23:49 lmaurer: It could !!!! ;- )
07:23:56 lmaurer: MANY THANKS FOR YOU HELP !!!
07:24:00 FrankW: It seems a conference book should have a note from the lead organizer giving credits for the work on the conference.
07:24:57 lmaurer: You right, we will include it => we will add a "thanks" part...
07:25:03 FrankW: ok.
07:25:34 FrankW: In that case, I'd be willing to do an editorial that is somewhat general about the foss4g world, and the past year.
07:25:51 pona: that is exaclty what we need
07:25:55 FrankW: How long should it be?
07:25:59 lmaurer: +1
07:26:06 FrankW: I imagine it will share some content from my keynote.
07:26:08 lmaurer: 1 A4 page
07:26:14 lmaurer: no problem...
07:26:57 pona: actually it would bi good to make a little history from the fisrt mum with 90 attendees to foss4g2006 with 450 and cross communities
07:27:06 FrankW: any idea of a word count for one a4 page?
07:27:28 lmaurer: I just count it ....
07:27:41 FrankW: my problem, is that I haven't been nearly as involved in the conference activities as many.
07:29:09 FrankW: OK. I will try to produce a first draft of such an editorial by Monday.
07:29:31 FrankW: I think I will need some feedback on it. :- )
07:29:40 lmaurer: About 350-400 words and 2500 caracters
07:30:04 FrankW: OK, that seems managable.
07:30:11 lmaurer: Monday is fine, thanks
07:31:56 FrankW: Phew, I see I'm supposed to produce a half page abstract for my keynote. I'd better get on that too right away.
07:32:59 FrankW: Has Gary sent his in?
07:33:13 FrankW: I was wanting to talk to him to coordinate so our keynotes don't overlap too much.
07:35:22 pona: we haven't ogt something from gary yet. deadline is tomorrow
07:37:05 jmckenna: FrankW: i'll modify the sol katz 2005 program text now and send it to the award committee for review... ( yesterday i asked here if we could include text for the award in program )
07:41:40 FrankW: jmckenna: cool, thanks.
07:57:24 FrankW: The week after the presentation submissions closed, I sent an email asking for a presentation called "FDO: Street Vendors in the Cathedral".
07:57:30 FrankW: But I don't see it in the system.
07:57:44 FrankW: How can I search for it? Is it too late to include it now, if it was missed?
09:42:04 FrankW: Are any of the keynote abstracts in? I'm not sure what is appropriate for this sort of thing.
09:42:27 FrankW: Normally in my abstracts ( which tend to be very brief ), I just list the major topics I'll be talking about.
09:42:39 FrankW: But a half page abstract seems like it will require more than that.
