12:46:10 cgs_bob_: hello all. I was just wonder about g.region's "-a" option. I know it aligns the region to resolution. are there any other advantages?
13:06:43 epifanio: i ues it when i export data or create ne files from existing one with r.mapcalc, so we don't loss half ixel precisions ( maybe i'm wrong but this what i thinking about it, it is a really nice feature ... missed in arczozz )
13:10:46 : * epifanio a lot of typo errors :-/
13:44:29 cgs_bob_: epifanio: you'll see a lot of typos from me if I had to write in Italian : )
13:45:08 : * cgs_bob_ has trouble with English ; )
13:46:21 epifanio: cgs_bob_: what's your native language?
13:46:55 epifanio: mine on irc is ... italynglish ;- )
13:47:12 cgs_bob_: I speak Californian : )
13:48:21 cgs_bob_: lol...your english is pretty good
13:49:09 epifanio: ohh thanks! .. some times ( at begin of my irc experience ) some people tell me ... epi : your language is broken
13:49:56 epifanio: but thanks to you ( All the comunity ) i learned more ! ... sure i learned english better than c / c++ ....
13:52:19 epifanio: ... however major problems come up when i need to listen
13:53:20 cgs_bob_: I'mstill learning c++. I'm more comfortable with c and fortran : )
13:56:41 epifanio: ehh great c .. and fortan too ( a lot of cool scientiphic staff use it ) .. i just a bit bash and python self teached .. and a scholastic matlab
13:58:26 cgs_bob_: epifanio: you were telling me that you wanted to change the ossim build instruction for ubuntu. what kind of changes were you thinking of making?
13:59:02 epifanio: the patch are no needed, and too many dependence are listed in the actual how too
13:59:26 epifanio: the code was changed so maybe now it should compile without patch
14:01:19 cgs_bob_: what dependencies would you leave out?
14:01:26 epifanio: however on ubuntu 9.04 i get some problems related to qt4.5 window when i open the file dialogue ( saved in corner kick beacouse ossim had drug'n drop capabilities )
14:04:26 epifanio: the main ossim dependencies are : libtiff, libgeotif ( the beta with large file support ), openscenegraph 2.6 or major ( with openthreads ) , libjpeg, libpng, libcurl.. ( about osg i have some doubt about the integrity of the ubuntu packages .. but maybe i'm wrong ) .. on debian the repository version works fine .. then gdal ( needed for the gdal_ossim plug-in )
14:06:37 epifanio: i'm starting right now a virtual machine from scracth, i need a clean distro for the gsoc project .. on my laptop( osx partition ) and desktop i have multiple grass version ... and thise create confusion when i use gdal-grass or directly grass in python
14:06:57 cgs_bob_: thanks...I got enough info to finish up.
14:07:44 cgs_bob_: so which vm do you use?
14:09:01 cgs_bob_: also...I see there are many ossim plugins. all I need is gdal?
14:09:32 epifanio: i use virtualdesktop and i'll install a sidux xfce distro
14:12:36 cgs_bob_: super! are you planning on distributing it when you are all done with your project?
14:13:56 epifanio: yes i'll try to make a thin machine
