00:46:26 mindspit: WHERE CAN I GET SUPORT FOR MAPGUIDE ?
00:51:12 : <_wolf_> please don't yell...
00:51:41 : <_wolf_> mindspit: then try #mapguide
00:51:53 mindspit: ok thanks : )
01:53:36 : <_wolf_> Testbaudson: hey. I'll try but I can't promise anything
01:55:56 Testbaudson: _wolf_: thanks!
01:57:54 : <_wolf_> Testbaudson: mail sent
01:58:00 : <_wolf_> let's hope for the best
01:59:41 Testbaudson: _wolf_: can you ( b )cc me?
02:10:22 Testbaudson: _wolf_: thanks
02:12:07 aghisla: _wolf_: what about duplicated accepted students? I guess I'm not one, no communication until now
02:12:26 : <_wolf_> aghisla: you are not a dupe
02:12:50 : <_wolf_> we have one, but it's not you ; )
02:13:00 aghisla: thanks _wolf_
02:13:34 pse: Hello, I'm looking for a C or Python or other implementation of the inverse projection for Transverse Mercator given in Snyder's "Map projections - a working manual". I'm trying to implement that for a Python project but I keep getting errors at the order of tenths of degrees.
02:14:05 pse: I'm wondering if that's the accuracy I can expect with the number of series expansion terms used in that book, or if I'm doing something wrong.
02:14:44 pse: Does anyone know where to find one?
03:19:47 crschmidt: pse: out of curiosity, what are you comparing to when finding your error?
03:22:21 pse: crschmidt: A numerical example in the book ( which is using specialised computation parameters for that ellipsoid instead of the generic formula I have implemented ), some numerical examples from the Swedish Geographical Survey, some examples from online map services that show both geographical and projected coordinates for the same points.
03:22:28 : * crschmidt nods
03:22:36 pse: It's always a couple of tenths of degrees off, particularly the latitude.
03:22:50 crschmidt: I questioned only because many online mapping services like GOogle o OpenLayers don't use Snyders mercator projection
03:23:05 crschmidt: they use a simplified form that is going to differ in latitude
03:23:16 crschmidt: But if you're comparing to the book, then my comments are irrelevant
03:23:34 crschmidt: Based on my previous implementations of it, I would expect significantly higher accuracy than that, to answer your question
03:23:40 pse: Hm.

03:24:55 crschmidt: The simplified forward and reverse ae available in: http://trac.openlayers.org/browser/trunk/openlayers/lib/OpenLayers/Layer/SphericalMercator.js#L80
03:24:56 sigq: Title: /trunk/openlayers/lib/OpenLayers/Layer/SphericalMercator.js - OpenLayers - Trac ( at trac.openlayers.org )
03:25:14 crschmidt: If they are of any interest to you. BUt I don't think that's your issue.
03:25:33 pse: Do I need higher precision datatypes than standard double-precision floats?
03:25:52 crschmidt: No, I do'nt think so.
03:25:53 pse: Thanks, I'll have a look at that link.
03:54:04 pse: Ah! I had misread one paranthesis in the "Map projections" PDF. Easy to do when it's a scanned PDF of so-so quality.
03:54:32 pse: Now I'm down to 6 digit accuracy in the inverse projections. I lose, Snyder win. = )
05:53:08 mindspit: where can i find arcsde 9.2 for linux ?
05:55:08 j03lar50n: i don't think Arc*.* supports Linux
05:57:33 mindspit: how can i then install mapguide on linux ?
05:57:48 mindspit: http://server:8008/mapguide/mapagent/ is empty ?
05:57:57 j03lar50n: hmmm maybe it does support Linux http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ArcSDE

06:00:40 j03lar50n: sorry mindspit, i'm not familiar with MapGuide - have you looked at http://mapguide.osgeo.org/sites/mapguide.osgeo.org/files/GettingStarted.pdf ?

06:05:49 FrankW: mindspit: there is also a #mapguide channel where you might find some specific mapguide advice.
06:58:03 mindspit: no ubuntu support
06:58:04 mindspit: :(
12:31:13 tomkralidis: hobu ( or others ): can trac connect to an svn repo on sourceforge.net?
12:31:52 wildintellect: tomkralidis, my understanding from trac is that it cannot connect to any svn outside the server where trac is
12:31:55 FrankW: To the best of my knowledge the svn instance needs to be local to the machine trac is running on.
12:32:14 wildintellect: you can however mirror the svn from sourceforge over to the trac server
12:32:27 FrankW: good point!
12:32:35 wildintellect: tomkralidis, fyi sourceforge offers trac sites
12:32:54 wildintellect: http://apps.sourceforge.net/trac/qgismetaedit/
12:32:55 sigq: Title: qgismetaedit ( at apps.sourceforge.net )
12:33:13 tomkralidis: wildintellect, FrankW: thanks. I'm thinking this in terms of geonetwork
12:33:34 FrankW: geonetwork's svn is at sourceforge?
12:33:38 wildintellect: yup
12:33:43 wildintellect: mailing lists too
12:33:48 FrankW: It might be worth migrating if an OSGeo trac is desired.
12:34:42 ticheler: we use OSGeo trac
12:34:55 ticheler: but it is not linked to the SVN directly indeed
12:35:38 wildintellect: sounds like the options are to either migrate or to mirror the svn
12:36:13 ticheler: mirroring could be interesting
12:36:35 ticheler: but I think we'll take that discussion up when we meet in Bolsena in June
15:19:23 TylerM: Anyone got a favourite PDF previewing method for their web site/pages?
15:19:45 TylerM: issuu.com is nice, but seems to crash me a lot :( .. especially in mid-blog-post :(
15:24:09 darkblue_B: ?? isnt this built in to most browsers now?
15:25:01 TylerM: hi darkblue_B - oh, i meant something slicker, like a flash interface to turning pages a bit nicer.
15:25:09 TylerM: not worth spending much time on though : )
15:25:19 darkblue_B: I thought issuu was pretty cool
15:29:20 TylerM: darkblue_B: are you on windows?
15:29:27 darkblue_B: not I
15:29:33 TylerM: just curious if it works on linux or not.. for some reason I thought it didn't.
15:29:38 TylerM: okay, sry ;- )
15:29:49 darkblue_B: it did for me
15:30:21 darkblue_B: I got the prompt for some flash plug in, Adobe's and two others, I chose Adobes, it installed and it worked
15:30:35 TylerM: sweet, thanks
15:30:55 TylerM: I'm in Macintosh never-never land.. so I never-never know it all is well on the other side of the fence( s )
15:30:56 TylerM: ; )
15:37:26 TylerM: darkblue_B: this work for you? http://www.osgeo.org/tyler/brochure_aag2009

15:37:34 TylerM: bottom of page should show that issuu viewer
17:50:29 darkblue_B: TylerM: looks fine, FF3 mac
17:59:41 darkblue_B: actually, FF3 / Ubuntu 8.04 is stuck
17:59:47 darkblue_B: youtube on the same machine works
17:59:56 j03lar50n: is this the brochure - just stepped in?
18:07:29 wildintellect: TylerM, scribd
18:09:19 wildintellect: ha, I thought so, they folded them the wrong way in the shipment I got
18:17:11 wildintellect: that link seems to work fine for me - ubuntu 8.04 64bit
19:24:25 TylerM: wildintellect: ahh no way :S
19:37:05 wildintellect: ya no kidding, flash is has been the bain of my setup for years
20:17:47 TylerM: wildintellect: and they still looked ok? heh - except for the crazy globe graphic I bet?!
20:18:00 TylerM: ( which only looks good if not mirrored : ) )
22:13:30 wildintellect: oh they looked fine, it was just odd cause it was upside down when you opened it
