05:36:34 agelos: suppose i have two lines line1 and line2 and i know they are parts of a trird line line3 .... i want to spit line3 removing line1 and line2... what spatial op should i use ?
05:43:19 milovanderlinden: What toolset/database/application are you talking about?
05:50:34 crschmidt: agelos: sounds like a 'difference' operation to me
06:14:29 sigq: osgeofeed: Ticket #370 ( task created ): Incubator Application: rasdaman <http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/370>
08:51:24 TylerM: anyone else with an osgeo.org email address notice they are missing some messages?
08:52:00 TylerM: I'm not sure if it's just slow for me or if my ISP is failing somehow to let the forwarded messages throw :(
09:04:26 TylerM: oh i think it's just realllly slow.. whew..
09:05:09 TylerM: like 45 minutes :(
09:05:19 TylerM: oh well, small price to pay for spam filtering : )
09:14:11 FrankW: TylerM: is the slowness on osgeo1 or your ISP?
09:14:28 TylerM: i think it's on osgeo1.. my other mails are coming through well
09:15:05 FrankW: I wonder if we ought to look into it. If all email through osgeo1 gets really slow it is going to cause a lot of problems.
09:16:55 crschmidt: postfix queue only has about a dozen non-sent pending messages
09:17:02 crschmidt: ( And a number pending that are bounces, down mailservers, etc. )
09:18:02 crschmidt: did you just esend a test, tyler?
09:19:11 TylerM: hi crschmidt - nope didn't just send a test.
09:19:14 crschmidt: hm
09:19:21 TylerM: I had a couple emails come in out of order, but seems fine now
09:19:32 crschmidt: ah, perhaps someone else sent you an email, then
09:19:51 crschmidt: anyway, looking at it, it looks like the turnaround time from when we got a message for you and when it got to your isp's mail server was ~2s
09:20:04 crschmidt: and I don't see anything else indicating that mail processing is slower than usual.
09:24:00 TylerM: cool, thanks for checking crschmidt
09:25:05 FrankW: Hmm, I'm running into some serious problem with geos on OSGeo4W. Crashes in the gdal16-autotest runs. Has anyone else noticed problems?
09:27:47 TylerM: Anyone here, and awake, who is working with LiveDVD/CD stuff lately?
09:28:07 TylerM: I have to give a talk at a regional event in a couple weeks and would like to have the best discs possible to give away : )
09:28:21 TylerM: I'll ping mleslie when Australia wakes up too...
09:28:52 TylerM: ah.. I see them here too http://download.osgeo.org/livedvd/
09:29:11 darkblue_B: hi tylerm.. I have a question about that
09:29:20 TylerM: no more questions.. I have too many too ;- )
09:29:24 TylerM: hehe
09:29:39 darkblue_B: ok, ok just *one* question
09:30:00 darkblue_B: do they have to make a 'build' of the DVD?
09:30:12 darkblue_B: I had asked about some addition, I forget now what
09:30:15 TylerM: I'm really not sure about the process
09:30:21 darkblue_B: they said.. subscribe to the email list
09:30:28 darkblue_B: and you'll see it
09:30:32 darkblue_B: well, I did, and I havent
09:30:37 TylerM: you saw the build instructions in wiki?
09:30:43 darkblue_B: hmmm maybe not
09:30:55 TylerM: if that's what you're looking for : ) http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/LISAsoft-LiveCD_process

09:32:29 TylerM: wow - my cable internet download speed doubled over past month..
09:32:41 TylerM: from 400K/s to about 1M
09:32:51 TylerM: I better check that my bill didn't increase too ;- )
09:34:17 darkblue_B: ok, that second page is more along the lines of what I was wondering
09:34:35 darkblue_B: .. we'll have to ask if these packages exist
09:34:53 darkblue_B: looks like a fine plan
09:35:05 darkblue_B: I was wondering for this weekend
09:35:14 darkblue_B: and Where, too
09:35:50 darkblue_B: I have the Arramagong rev

09:36:33 darkblue_B: looking
09:37:00 TylerM: epifanio's is nice too, though I've only tried it via virtual machine, not a real boot

09:37:59 darkblue_B: nope.. hadnt seen that one
09:39:21 darkblue_B: if --someone-- wanted to rig up an OSSIM planet, with some data, that would be one are for exploration'
09:39:39 TylerM: epifanios should be a good one for that.. he knows ossim so well
09:39:51 darkblue_B: right - thats what made me think of it
09:41:46 TylerM: i have a copy but i'm afraid the upload would take a few days with my connection :S
09:41:53 TylerM: I've pinged him about his site.
09:43:19 darkblue_B: I like the WDPA

09:44:04 darkblue_B: thxs crschmidt
09:44:33 darkblue_B: I am thinking of incorporating that one into this weekend
09:45:05 darkblue_B: people put a lot of effort into that one.. if only the reality on the ground matched the data set :-/
09:45:09 darkblue_B: but its a start
09:48:24 TylerM: ping ominoverde
09:48:32 TylerM: anything exciting happening on livecd front for you?
10:51:44 sigq: osgeofeed: Ticket #371 ( task created ): Please set up mail alias for jason birch <http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/371>
10:51:54 wildintellect: I have downloaded copies of all the recent Live DVD's in included the italian one with OSSIM
10:55:59 wildintellect: darkblue_B, TylerM I'll make sure I have copies burned
10:57:56 TylerM: great!
10:58:08 TylerM: you got a DVD label already?
11:02:31 wildintellect: Labels, no
11:02:46 wildintellect: I just have the iso files since I was playing with them a few weeks ago
11:04:25 wildintellect: darkblue_B, right now your options are to use the existing disc - we've only discussed how to go about building the images as a group
11:05:14 wildintellect: TylerM, they work, but I'm not sure about giving them out - I've had issues with every one I've ran
11:05:39 TylerM: okay, good feedback, thanks
11:06:35 TylerM: FrankW: I'm wondering about how much to promote OSGeo4W during my talks... if normal GIS users, for example, run through the install, will they be inspired?
11:06:49 TylerM: I've only tested the install process ac ouple times, so my memory is foggy ; )
11:07:34 wildintellect: I can speak from the QGIS perspective - it's been confusing
11:07:43 TylerM: basically, should I be promoting it lots as an 'easy' way to get started, or do you feel some bugs or hand-holding issues need to be ironed out still?
11:08:07 wildintellect: enough so that many people asked about a standalone installer
11:08:34 wildintellect: I do think it's a good tool, but actually for advanced users
11:10:13 wildintellect: I don't have any experience or 2nd hand knowledge of non-qgis packages via the easy install method
11:10:45 : * FrankW sighs.
11:15:08 wildintellect: I'm pretty sure in the svn it's been modified so the QGIS easy install will include python and GRASS which will help a lot -the only other big complaint was figuring out how to use it for deployment to a lot of machines but that's not a beginner question
11:16:56 wildintellect: FrankW, how often is the installer exe regenerated?
11:19:22 FrankW: wildintellect: The exe is rebuilt as needed, though that normally isn't often.
11:19:39 FrankW: I believe I've dropped the ball on the more inclusive easy install qgis package.
11:20:41 CIA-43: osgeo: buildbot * r1582 /buildbot/gdal/master/config/a_telascience.py: add swigging step

12:14:43 TylerM: @seen epifanio
12:14:43 sigq: TylerM: epifanio was last seen in #osgeo 2 days, 21 hours, 56 minutes, and 31 seconds ago: <epifanio> really it is ... find postgres info too : http://forum.geonames.org/gforum/posts/list/67.page next step will be transfer the lon-lat columns to geometry colums

13:56:43 ominoverde: TylerM, still there?
13:57:03 TylerM: ominoverde: yes, how you doing?
13:57:11 ominoverde: fine, man, you?
13:57:44 ominoverde: interested in LiveDVD from epifanio?
13:57:56 TylerM: yes, I guess I just miss him this week : )
13:58:05 TylerM: I have a couple weeks before I need to try something though
13:58:21 ominoverde: he's been working hard on it, mostly alone :-|
13:58:56 TylerM: okay, i've emailed him. how is his work related to ominiverdi disk?
13:59:47 wildintellect: its fairly independant, he built fresh on top of Jaunty
14:00:15 TylerM: oh, I figured, but wondering what ominoverde sees for the future of ominiverdi disk :D
14:00:17 TylerM: too
14:00:32 ominoverde: TylerM, epifanio is part of the family, we tried to help him
14:00:55 ominoverde: but quite all the work is done by him
14:01:16 TylerM: okay, any plans to work with lisasoft for the '09 foss4g disk?
14:01:21 : * TylerM tries to hurd all his friends together ;- )
14:01:26 wildintellect: I did talk with him about how to integrate the two
14:01:32 TylerM: right on
14:01:42 TylerM: good to have you guys around : )
14:01:43 wildintellect: and it did spawn a discussion on the Live list about how we plan to proceed
14:02:08 TylerM: i'll leave it to the list then, just want to know which one to use when the time comes
14:02:09 ominoverde: jeje, I would love, I've been chatting with cameron about it but for the moment I have no time and epifanio needed his SVN nightly built DVD
14:02:27 TylerM: seems he needs someplace to host it too
14:02:35 ominoverde: probably
14:04:30 wildintellect: TylerM, I just got a box from Georgia - Becoming a Sponsor cards
14:04:45 TylerM: right on... you should have a box from me by end of week
14:04:47 TylerM: too
14:04:53 TylerM: how do they look?
14:04:53 wildintellect: any idea how many cards are supposed to be in here
14:05:06 TylerM: hmm, one sec
14:06:18 TylerM: probably only 1,000
14:06:19 TylerM: : )
14:06:27 TylerM: they were cheap : )
14:06:56 wildintellect: ok, seems like a lot - we'll probably want to send some of them elsewhere after Where
14:07:30 TylerM: right.. there was just no time for me to split them up here and then forward to you
14:07:36 TylerM: look ok?
14:07:54 wildintellect: yes
14:08:19 TylerM: they might let you put some at the registration area where they hand out the bags : )
14:08:47 wildintellect: I'll make sure to keep that in mind
14:11:19 wildintellect: any advice on what blog tag to implement before I submit to be on the planet http://blog.wildintellect.com/
14:11:21 sigq: Title: Blog – Wildintellect ( at blog.wildintellect.com )
14:16:50 jasonbirch: wildintellect: looks like most of your posts are OS-related, why not just submit the main feed?
14:17:09 wildintellect: well not all of it is GIS related
14:17:34 TylerM: i wouldn't worry.. we're all geeks here ; )
