06:15:53 FrankW: sheesh, incubator mailing list havoc!
06:33:31 jdeolive: FrankW: I share your pain : )
06:33:46 jdeolive: FrankW: Jody said i needed to talk to you about getting a login to the server for our website?
06:34:34 FrankW: jdeolive: What is your OSGeo LDAP Userid?
06:34:47 jdeolive: jdeolive
06:35:06 FrankW: convenient!
06:35:20 FrankW: I'll enable it for login on the telascience blades and then give you sudo on the server.
06:35:29 : * jdeolive likes it that way
06:35:41 jdeolive: great, thanks
06:38:15 FrankW: ok, I'd appreciate it if you could test logging into upload.osgeo.org and try doing a command using sudo.
06:39:11 jdeolive: FrankW: sure thing
06:40:22 jdeolive: FrankW: works like a charm
06:40:43 FrankW: excellent.
06:41:10 FrankW: I assume at some point you will want a DNS entry pointing to this server. You should be able to either grab someone where to do it, or file a ticket against SAC.
06:42:14 jdeolive: alright, that sounds good
06:42:19 jdeolive: thanks for setting me up with access
06:43:12 FrankW: no problem.
07:02:02 jdeolive: FrankW: can i feel free to reload apache after i add the conf file? Or should i be weary of disrupting the other sites running?
07:02:42 FrankW: jdeolive: I would encourage you to do "apachectl graceful" to avoid terminating any large downloads in progress.
07:03:46 jdeolive: FrankW: sounds good, will do
08:02:16 hobu: gee, I thought I was all caught up on the incubation thread

09:03:31 FrankW: TylerM: Is this a good time to regenerate the annual report?
09:03:45 FrankW: I'm a bit surprised at the number of changes being made at this late date!
09:11:22 TylerM: Hi FrankW: I need our reports to be approved before I can finalise the journal.. but yes, I have already regenerated it and need to upload it.
09:11:31 TylerM: I assume you mean changes to the finance report??
09:11:52 TylerM: I posted it for comment a couple weeks ago and only Ken gave me any feedback.
09:12:21 TylerM: But now that you've started the discussion to finalise the reports, I'm hopeful we've covered all the bases.
09:35:50 darkblue_B: I dont know the specifics of the financial report, but I can tell you, I am on the board of a local social organization and its really easy to have to make changes to the financials based on changes to accounting rules and procedures
09:36:22 darkblue_B: the accounting rules and procedures are fairly arbitrary in a lot of cases
09:36:59 darkblue_B: one of the other board members told me that someone recently did a review of major US tax software packages.. they sent the same set of data to three different services
09:37:06 darkblue_B: all three came out with different final results
09:37:22 TylerM: hi darkblue_B - I can imagine : )
09:37:43 darkblue_B: :- )
09:37:58 TylerM: we hit various barriers .. things can get confusing fast ; )
09:38:07 TylerM: plus always doing clean up from earlier processes
09:43:19 FrankW: TylerM: I am talking about approved financials.
09:43:52 FrankW: I would add that you should by no means issue an annual report until the board has approved financials at which time only those financials ( or a summarized version of same ) should be published.
09:45:00 FrankW: I'm just surprised at the number of last minute changes.
09:45:13 FrankW: It's making it hard to get approved reports to the board for this friday.
09:46:13 TylerM: I won't officially release anything until approved, no worries there.
09:47:04 TylerM: I have had sample reports out for comment for weeks now, waiting for comments. Now that I've got some, I'm incorporating the requested changes.
09:47:11 FrankW: Can I safely regenerate the reports and move for their approval now?
09:47:51 TylerM: Yes, as long as all changes were fine.
09:48:11 FrankW: Well, I will have to do further review I imagine.
09:48:42 FrankW: I had really hoped to perform some auditing, but I keep neglecting this area for many weeks at a time and finding myself in a time pinch and confused when I get to it.
09:49:40 TylerM: I detailed all the changes so hopefully they make sense. Most of them were in response to your questions, so shouldn't be too confusing.
09:50:14 TylerM: Ken's giving good suggestions, but I think we're maxing out quickbooks on a couple angles.
09:50:16 TylerM: biab
09:50:46 FrankW: I must confess, when I compare our approach to accounting to other organizations I'm familiar with I really wonder if we aren't overcomplicating things.
09:51:11 FrankW: By comparison to SPI ( Software in the Public Interest ) for instance.
09:51:46 FrankW: But this is no time for a dramatic change in direction.
09:52:09 TylerM: I've been learning a lot as I go, so some backtracking/improving has made it a bit difficult without having more direct support.
11:56:06 TylerM: back : )
