04:51:19 aaime: Hi, is there anyone able to commit to the OSGEO svn?
04:51:23 aaime: I get an internal server error
05:07:32 hobu: aaime: a commit on GDAL's instance works correctly
05:07:40 hobu: are you trying to commit to geotools?
05:07:54 aaime: hmmm... I have a permission issue
05:07:57 aaime: here is the log
05:08:06 hobu: http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/368
05:08:07 sigq: Title: #368 ( request to upgrade svn server to support mergeinfo ) - OSGeo - Trac ( at trac.osgeo.org )
05:08:07 aaime: svn: Can't open file '/var/www/svn/repos/geotools/db/txn-current-lock': Permission denied
05:08:07 aaime: svn: MKACTIVITY of '/geotools/!svn/act/9b550808-2201-0010-8514-ffad3935d53c': 500 Internal Server Error ( http://svn.osgeo.org )
05:08:42 aaime: hobu, yep, I know you've upgraded svn, and I'm grateful for that : )
05:08:42 crschmidt: yeah, that looks wrong
05:08:50 crschmidt: it's owned by root and not writable by apache
05:09:07 hobu: please try now
05:10:15 aaime: hobu, worked, thanks a lot!
05:10:40 hobu: please confirm the merginfo stuff works and update that ticket. Once it does, I will upgrade the other repositories
05:11:50 : * hobu sees mbedward already updated the ticket
05:12:00 hobu: nevermind : )
05:32:38 sigq: osgeofeed: Ticket #368 ( enhancement closed ): request to upgrade svn server to support mergeinfo <http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/368#comment:9>
06:07:42 aaime: hobu?
06:08:49 aaime: it would seems there is another issue with the svn upgrade, update notifications via mail: http://pastebin.com/m2321a683
06:08:50 sigq: Title: pastebin - collaborative debugging tool ( at pastebin.com )
06:09:28 hobu: doh
06:10:59 hobu: aaime: can you try again?
06:11:33 aaime: sure
06:12:38 aaime: done, now waiting for the mail
06:13:07 aaime: hobu, yup, worked
06:13:14 hobu: great, thanks
06:16:40 aaime: hobu, one thing that I've noticed is that the svn client is removing "svn:mergeinfo" from a number of directories or files even if I never touched them and I'm not sure if this is just normal part of the transition or not
06:16:58 aaime: ( first time I use a svn 1.5 server )
06:17:21 hobu: I don't know anything about 1.5 : )
06:17:27 aaime: the above files are marked as modified for the next commit of course
06:17:29 aaime: ok
06:17:34 aaime: I've asked on the geotools ml as well
07:05:24 sigq: osgeofeed: Ticket #388 ( task created ): Postgis Trac can you run this update now <http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/388>
10:38:48 darkblue_B: hi all
10:39:07 darkblue_B: I heard an interesting piece on the radio yesterday
10:39:35 darkblue_B: Here in the US, as in many western countries, there is a 'Stimulus' bill, money from the govt to do certain things
10:40:14 crschmidt: ( A map of recovery spending in the US: http://recovery-map.org/map/ )
10:40:15 sigq: Title: Recovery Map ( at recovery-map.org )
10:40:24 darkblue_B: one of them is an initiative to make broadband more widely availble
10:40:32 darkblue_B: yes! recovery-map
10:40:47 darkblue_B: so here is the OSGeo part, potentially
10:41:25 darkblue_B: ther is a pile of funds asscoiated with mapping the current availability and use of broadband internet access for households and small biz
10:42:18 darkblue_B: there is an industry lobbying gourp that has emerged, that is basically compased of Cmcast and AT&T and a couple other of the largest regulated monopoly operators
10:42:51 darkblue_B: there is a counter group of 'citizen advocates' called Public Knowledge
10:43:43 darkblue_B: a PK attorney was on the radio making the case that the mapping of use and availability of boradband in the US was frought with opportuities to hide and spin the results
10:44:03 darkblue_B: the position of the operators group is that the results have to be confidential, to combat terrorism
10:44:19 darkblue_B: the citizens group says this is "nonsense"
10:44:21 darkblue_B: etc
10:44:33 t2: I'm in, I hate AT&T/Comcast
10:44:58 darkblue_B: yeah - I wasnt about to offer GIS services to the operators group!
10:45:47 darkblue_B: so.. its a huge tug of war at this stage.. but, I think in the interest of transparency and data availablility, this is a pretty good situation to weigh in on ..
10:46:01 t2: so this would involve mapping broadband availability in the US?
10:46:06 darkblue_B: either through Public Knowledge, as lead, or somehow as OSGeo
10:46:14 darkblue_B: t2 yes
10:46:43 t2: where does the data come from?
10:46:52 darkblue_B: well, thats work
10:47:08 darkblue_B: but, here in the US there is a huge political drive to create jobs
10:47:15 FrankW: I heard a report from our local county development office on all the work they had to do to map broadband availability in just our county in order to apply for provincial grants. It was suprisingly involved.
10:47:20 darkblue_B: efficiently and transparently as possible, but ASAP
10:47:48 darkblue_B: FrankW: yes, its a larger undertaking than might meet the eye
10:47:56 darkblue_B: but, there is alot of funding available, too
10:48:56 darkblue_B: I dont want to repeat the dollar total, to skew the argument, but lets just say its more than the present OSGeo budget ;- )
10:49:35 t2: funding available to anyone who wants to take part?
10:49:47 darkblue_B: the jobs part will fall to the Communication Workers of America, most likely
10:49:56 FrankW: I could imagine us taking a role in a couple ways. One to provide a statement in support of making the results public.
10:50:13 FrankW: The other would be to provide "software and support" to a PK lead GIS team.
10:50:13 darkblue_B: but the information architecture...
10:50:22 darkblue_B: FrankW: yes
10:50:27 FrankW: Potentially in return for some limited funded for needed improvements and customization.
10:50:51 darkblue_B: it seems like a good thing on several levels
10:51:37 darkblue_B: I would encourage the Board to not cut OSGeo too short on a money part of this.. it may be a real opportunity
10:51:58 crschmidt: shit
10:52:00 crschmidt: er
10:52:03 crschmidt: sorry, wrong window
10:52:06 crschmidt: ( man, i hate my laptop )
10:52:11 darkblue_B: lol!
10:53:02 t2: haha
10:53:08 darkblue_B: ok, conf call on an unrealted issue.. all for now
10:53:17 darkblue_B: www.publicknowledge.org
10:53:19 FrankW: later
11:36:30 crschmidt: FrankW: I just cc'ed news_item on an OpenLayers release announcement.
11:36:48 FrankW: cool, I'll forward it when it arrives.
11:36:56 crschmidt: thx
11:38:56 bwoodall: Great job on OL 2.8
11:57:10 sigq: osgeofeed: Ticket #389 ( task created ): Mapbender Blog is broken <http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/389>
12:32:30 darkblue_B: hello
12:32:53 darkblue_B: FrankW: I've drafted a letter - how can I send it to the board for consideration?
12:37:52 crschmidt: http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/board
12:37:53 sigq: Title: Board Info Page ( at lists.osgeo.org )
12:58:15 darkblue_B: thx
14:03:13 : * seven is going to have just one more Grappa and then go off to bed for another day at the code sprint...
