05:04:50 sigq: osgeofeed: Ticket #506 ( task created ): OSGeo incubation - Geomajas <http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/506>
05:40:37 jmckenna: ok so that was an experience..i just gave a video keynote for the Geolivre event in brasil lol : )
05:42:26 jmckenna: ( travel visa could not be approved in time ) Jody Garnett is there... i had to put a suit jacket on ( not my usual work-at-home attire ha. ok, back to reality : )
07:03:52 Schuyler: I have a shapefile of road curblines, and I'd like to generalize it to a layer of centerlines. anyone have any suggestions?
07:06:30 spacedman: so you've got both sides of the road and you want the middle?
07:06:56 spacedman: and obviously you'll have junctions....
07:07:52 spacedman: might be easy if its a perfect US city grid : )
07:08:02 hobu: Schuyler: as polys?
07:09:17 spacedman: you could rasterize the roads and then vectorize the road raster, possibly after a bit of image analysis to skeletonize the raster
07:14:23 Schuyler: hobu: yeah, the shapefile is polys
07:14:34 hobu: negative buffer them until you get lines?
07:14:40 Schuyler: negative bugger?
07:14:42 Schuyler: *buffer
07:14:43 Schuyler: ha
07:14:48 Schuyler: oops.
07:15:46 : * hobu doesn't know for sure if geos will degrade as expected in this case
07:15:54 jmckenna: someday i'll investigate camptocamp's 'spatial data integrator' which is an attempt at another gui for geotools and jts....my guess is it could solve some nice problems like generalizing...but, just thinking out loud

07:23:53 spacedman: but i suspect you dont have that software.... :(
07:28:07 Schuyler: spacedman: my GIS can do anything yours can do!!!
07:28:22 jgarnett: :- )
07:29:31 spacedman: i dont have that software either : )
07:29:36 spacedman: i reckon GRASS can do it
08:35:47 TylerM: vheurteaux wins the prize for being the 60th member in the channel ;- )
08:36:06 vheurteaux: :- )
08:36:08 vheurteaux: niiiice
08:36:26 TylerM: enjoy the fame :D
08:36:48 TylerM: how's the weather over there treating you vheurteaux ?
08:39:04 vheurteaux: it's fine but now the night has come so it does'nt matter
08:40:12 TylerM: do you get much snow?
08:42:16 vheurteaux: mmmh no TylerM where I leave ( Montpelier - FR ) the temps is approximatively 20° ;- )
08:43:31 TylerM: ahh .. nice
14:28:30 wildintellect: ping TylerM
16:56:34 TylerM: ack wildintellect
16:57:06 wildintellect: is it my fault if things start happening quickly?
16:57:27 wildintellect: or was that missing a b
16:57:47 TylerM: heh nope.. just a "acknowledge" packet response to a ping request : )
16:58:31 TylerM: i think i was wrong about deadline for aag booth.. i think i got confused with a GITA event reminder i got yesterday
16:58:41 wildintellect: well all the better then
16:58:54 TylerM: not sure about the deadline though.. will dig that up right now
16:59:04 wildintellect: I bet it's a couple of months away
17:00:33 TylerM: yeah end of jan
17:06:02 wildintellect: hmm, I'll have to dig around for the booth numbers I put down
17:09:08 wildintellect: TylerM, http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Image:Aag2010floorplan.pdf

17:29:58 TylerM: they 'held' us a booth until the end of sept.. so i've written to ask if they still have some available
17:30:15 TylerM: re: 501c3.. man it's just hung up at IRS...
17:30:22 TylerM: I guess i'll have to phone
17:30:28 TylerM: but for now.. time for fencing practise.. ciao!
17:36:19 darkblue_B: hi all
17:36:25 darkblue_B: GIS Day tomorrow?
17:36:33 darkblue_B: I am full - I have done nothing for it
17:36:41 darkblue_B: ( last year I put up an OSGeo poster )
17:49:31 wildintellect: vary last minute http://daviswiki.org/GIS_Day
17:49:32 sigq: Title: GIS Day - Davis Wiki ( at daviswiki.org )
17:50:02 wildintellect: OSGeo live demo, and handouts will be at the events
17:50:18 wildintellect: darkblue_B, do you have a pdf of the poster?
17:50:34 wildintellect: I might want to print one in the morning to put up at Davis
17:59:17 darkblue_B: well, lets see
18:00:04 darkblue_B: its definitely funky
18:00:06 darkblue_B: I made it up
18:00:21 darkblue_B: I liked some parts of it.. but ... you'll see
18:00:50 darkblue_B: http://71.202.181.1/osgeo/osgeo_ca2b.pdf
18:00:56 darkblue_B: try that wildintellect
18:01:38 darkblue_B: I think "land language layers" was quite good actually
18:02:01 darkblue_B: considering the international strengths of OSGeo
18:07:40 wildintellect: anything is better than making one from scratch
18:08:45 wildintellect: what's the paper size on that?
18:08:58 darkblue_B: I printed it big
18:09:07 darkblue_B: like on a roll
18:09:12 wildintellect: 2', 3', 4'?
18:09:25 wildintellect: ANSI D or E?
18:09:32 darkblue_B: it scales
18:09:48 wildintellect: sure but what was it designed for?
18:09:59 darkblue_B: ha! design ;- )
18:10:05 darkblue_B: I just made it up
18:10:24 darkblue_B: maybe there is something embedded in the PDF
18:10:45 wildintellect: ya found it 11 x18
18:10:55 darkblue_B: do take the time to trim or crop that ragged edge
18:11:08 darkblue_B: hmm 11x18 is a starting proportion I'd say
18:11:09 wildintellect: sounds good, I'll put a copy up 11 x 17 on our poster/map wall
18:11:18 darkblue_B: because I went much larger than that, for sure
18:11:43 wildintellect: I might double that
18:11:49 wildintellect: looks fine at 200%
18:11:53 darkblue_B: yeah 3'
18:11:57 darkblue_B: sounds right
18:11:59 wildintellect: had to be sure the quality was there
18:12:07 darkblue_B: its all vectors
18:12:22 darkblue_B: the typesetting is certainly not up to my own standards
18:12:38 darkblue_B: but, thats how far I got
23:16:21 issy: morning all : )
