05:37:02 smartnude: I've got a multilinestring that I want to interpolate a point on, I guess I first need to convert it to a linestring for use with st_line_interpolate_point ? I tried using st_linemerge on my multiline, but did not help.. any tips ?
06:20:07 CIA-34: mloskot * r4163 /spike/wktraster/scripts/gdal2wktraster.py: [wktraster] Fixed stupid bug that was exporting pixel data of non-overview band as it was overview. Simply, band.GetOverview( ) call was missing. mloskot's writing 1000 times: don't listen to reggae musing while coding.
06:47:13 CIA-34: robe * r4164 /trunk/doc/reference.xml: correct example
08:13:21 CIA-34: pramsey * r2573 /branches/3.1/ ( ChangeLog NEWS configure.in ): Prepare for 3.1.1 release
08:13:36 CIA-34: pramsey * r2574 /branches/3.0/ ( ChangeLog NEWS configure.in ): Prepare for 3.0.4 release.
12:36:06 zanberdo: is there a function to return the perimeter of a polygon?
13:03:35 drewby: Hi, does postGIS have any line smoothing algorithms?
13:08:59 jlivni: drewby: st_simplify
13:14:27 rudenstam: zanberdo: st_perimeter ?
13:16:31 drewby: simplify doesn't really make stuff smoother though, it makes stuff more jagged most of the time
13:18:08 drewby: I need more of a standards compatible fit to curve.
13:20:57 cgs_bob: drewby: sorry for being a bit off topic, but GRASS has a nice line smoothing algorithm. take a look at this: http://grass.itc.it/grass64/manuals/html64_user/v.generalize.html
13:20:59 sigq: Title: GRASS GIS manual: v.generalize ( at grass.itc.it )
13:21:58 pramsey: "standards compatible" ?
13:29:23 strk: woof
13:29:36 strk: I bet it's the same algorithm
13:31:53 jlivni: drewby: you may be interested in this thread http://groups.google.com/group/geodjango/browse_thread/thread/130800c6255fd1e0
13:31:55 sigq: Title: alternatives to simplify( ) for reducing points in polygons - geodjango | Google Groups ( at groups.google.com )
13:32:27 jlivni: different people have different ideas of what smoothing should do, and when. the paper describing the VW algorithm from the mapshaper.org guys gives a nice overview
13:32:55 jlivni: pramsey: i think by standards compatible he means the simplified output needs to be WFS?
13:33:40 : * jlivni wonders what the 'snakes method for line smothing is' .. gotta try out this v.generalize now
13:33:54 strk: toGml( simplify( ) ) ?
13:34:05 jlivni: heh
13:34:27 jlivni: or maybe kml is the standards now ... tho its getting less simple by the release
13:42:08 strk: pramsey: does obe ever get around here ?
13:42:51 pramsey: v. rarely
13:43:01 pramsey: I try to goad her, but no real luck so far
13:43:06 pramsey: she is immune to the call of im
13:45:36 jlivni: and v.rarely is, almost surprisingly, not a grass module
13:45:56 : * jlivni shuts up, realizing switch to matte from coffee is making him say silly things
13:48:19 : * pramsey is futzing with jmeter and getting some database benchmarks ready
13:48:20 pramsey: jmeter == pretty damn awesome
15:17:37 strk: jumping to the java side ?
15:17:47 : * strk talks alone...
16:01:49 dassouki: /discon
16:01:52 dassouki: oops
