03:42:23 francesco_: can i provide you any other logs or system informations ?
03:43:08 spacedman: i'm just googling your error messages... its got to be some kind of grass version incompatibility I reckon... i've got compiled qgis since 0.9 so am a bit unsure... and none of the real experts seem to be awake...
03:43:22 spacedman: oops. i mean 'i've NOT compile qgis...'
03:43:29 francesco_: i'm on eepc ubuntu 9.04, gdsl from svn, grass7, gdalgrass compiled from source on grass7

03:46:02 : * francesco_ ... bad english, sorry :-(
03:47:18 francesco_: ahhh grass incompatibility.. so maybe qgis grass provider is not ready for grass7
03:47:38 francesco_: ok ... maybe these is the reason

06:37:36 simgislab: hi all, anybody nows if new qgis wiki requires new account?
06:38:35 simgislab: ah, missed Otto's letter about that ...
06:46:39 sigq: tracfeed: Ticket #1697 ( bug created ): Does not install on vista 64 <https://trac.osgeo.org/qgis/ticket/1697>
06:48:07 macho: simgislab: release translation wiki site is in the mail too
06:48:07 macho: so that should be the new site otto created .. and the new wiki looks marvelous also : )
06:48:49 simgislab: btw, macho, are you aware that your de translation for 1.1 is empty?
07:13:04 macho: simgislab: i know - still working on it - just prepared the empty site - but as the wiki is not really official public .. i think it can wait until evening
07:14:07 dassouki: is teh hackfest open to certain ppl or can anyone join
07:14:52 simgislab: sure, I was searching around wiki for good example of ready press-release and found your page - blank, portugese - old english text, kept me wondering ; )
07:19:11 macho: dassouki: anyone available can join ..
07:19:11 macho: simgislab: i'm doing it later today ..
07:19:11 macho: simgislab: and will enter the english one also
07:19:39 nhv_lab: anyone got a link for a binary rpm for 64 bit CENTOS
07:31:21 macho: nhv_lab: source -> compile?
07:31:23 hobu: Dear qgis, you are awesome. Can you tell me how to easily copy the current extent of the window to the clip board so I can use it elsewhere?
07:33:22 springmeyer: hobu: i wanna know dat too: http://trac.osgeo.org/qgis/ticket/971
07:33:24 sigq: Title: #971 ( Make available map extents available as a window that accepts cursor input ) - Quantum GIS - Trac ( at trac.osgeo.org )
07:34:09 hobu: bummer.
07:34:38 hobu: maybe just make it so when you double click on the control, it copies minx, miny, maxx, maxy to the clipboard ; )
07:34:45 springmeyer: would likely be a 5 minute python plugin for guru's
07:34:51 hobu: anyway, off to manually copying
07:34:53 cgs_bob: maybe someone can write a plugin ( if you can get to the extent in the py )thon bindings
07:35:04 springmeyer: ya, good idea
07:35:18 springmeyer: cgs_bob: yes extents are easily had in python
07:36:12 springmeyer: hobu: I'd like to see a little toggle mode or something -> extents in projwin/srcwin, etc
07:36:45 hobu: srcwin in the gdal sense?
07:36:57 springmeyer: yes, exactly.
07:37:14 : * hobu finds the usability of srcwin in gdal awful
07:37:48 springmeyer: oh? well if you could just draw a box in qgis( or zoom int frame ) surely more folks might use it : )
07:37:53 springmeyer: i figger
07:38:35 qgis_: I have extents, but I'm not sharing
07:38:44 springmeyer: lol
07:54:23 CIA-70: mhugent * r10791 /trunk/qgis/ ( 13 files in 3 dirs ): Change in overlay classes such that pal object and geos geometry don't appear in the public interfaces ( important for python bindings )
08:06:43 spacedman: who wanted extents? its iface.mapCanvas( ).extent( ).toString( )
08:07:26 macho: entered into the python console?
08:07:31 spacedman: yip
08:07:38 spacedman: thats the extent of the current view
08:07:42 timlinux: qgis, is it friday?
08:07:55 macho: thursday here tim ; )
08:08:10 timlinux: macho, qgis usually only appears on fridays
08:08:36 macho: ??
08:08:40 qgis: It's always Friday for qgis
08:09:02 timlinux: hobu I could tweak the status bar widget to give you extents in clipboard prolly
08:09:29 spacedman: how does Qt talk to the clipboard?
08:09:31 hobu: cool. it would be handy
08:09:40 spacedman: oh, QClipboard
08:10:06 macho: hmmm - why on earth is here no python console?
08:10:19 macho: windows is not my thing - i'd like my linux back
08:10:31 macho: timlinux: should there be a python console in the windows version?
08:11:33 spacedman: oh deep joy: QApplication.clipboard( ).setText( iface.mapCanvas( ).extent( ).toString( ) )
08:13:08 spacedman: macho: where did you get your windows version from? maybe you need windows python first... OsGeo4W bundles it.
08:14:35 macho: i have windows python - but i do not have the osgeo4win version of qgis installed
08:15:02 timlinux: macho the win all in one bundle should have python all set to go
08:15:09 macho: ( this WinXP here is unstable enough : ) )
08:15:34 macho: spacedman: i do have a python24 dir on c:\
08:15:46 macho: ( surely from the arcgis installation )
08:22:00 timlinux: macho, there is one inside c:\program files\quantum gis\
08:22:10 timlinux: which should be the one qgis picks up
08:23:04 timlinux: qgis, just looking at my calendar it says: Fri May 12,Fri May 13,Fri May 14,Fri May 15, etc...so it seem you are correct
08:24:57 timlinux: does anyone else have problems with the mailing list? I seem to get a random selection of mails posted to the dev list e.g. on the "[Qgis-developer] QGIS 1.0.3 is next..." thread I get only seems like every fifth message in the thread
08:27:19 jef: timlinux: and that's not just because the cc offlist?
08:28:16 jef: which is IMHO yet another bad habit ; )
08:28:37 timlinux: jef it doesnt look like it but it could be that I only get the cc to me personal ones
08:31:41 timlinux: anyway for regarding maintaing stable branch I think we should continue the practice
08:31:56 timlinux: a ) it makes the project look like we at least care about stability
08:32:29 timlinux: in the past a lot of people complained about new features coming out all the time and no one taking care of just bug fixing and stabilising one version
08:32:45 timlinux: b ) it doesnt take that much effort to maintain it
08:33:37 timlinux: c ) sooner or later someone will commit something in trunk that breaks all kinds of stuff and at least we will be able to say 'its unstable version, if you care about stability use the stable release'
08:33:55 timlinux: and lastly
08:34:37 timlinux: d ) when we get to a point where we want to do a long interval between unstable releases e.g. because of major refactoring, we still will have a version that we can easily keep current with minor fixes
08:35:00 : * timlinux should prolly write this to the mailing list rather :- )
08:36:02 CIA-70: wonder * r10792 /trunk/qgis/src/ ( 2 files in 2 dirs ): [FEATURE] Possibility to search in attribute table within selected records only.
08:42:13 dassouki: since a lot of developers seem to be here. TransCAD a propietery software we use has an interesting search feature. you can search based on an SQL quert and/or geometry. You can do as many searches as you want and they'll be all saved in a search engine. So in layer roads for example you can search for "arterial raods" and "2directional roads". The search engine will display the first results and highlights them in gr
08:43:55 dassouki: highlights the results in the query and map space
08:49:49 CIA-65: wonder * r10793 /trunk/qgis/src/app/ ( qgsmaptoolsimplify.cpp qgsmaptoolsimplify.h ): [UPDATE] support polygon features for simplification.

09:12:43 sigq: tracfeed: Ticket #1698 ( enhancement created ): Rotation of the map view <https://trac.osgeo.org/qgis/ticket/1698>
09:47:17 radim: anybody knows how in cmake create a list of all files except CMakeLists.txt and CMakeFiles? Something like FILE ( GLOB MODULE_FILES * )
12:09:09 CIA-65: rblazek * r10795 /trunk/qgis/src/ ( 8 files in 5 dirs ): fixed ticket #1173, new script which runs both db.connect and db.login ( if necessary ) for postgres database, connection is tested

12:57:38 cgs_bob: hello all. I just installed the windows qgis 1.1 standalone. I am getting an error "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem" Anyone have any suggestions?
12:57:58 wildintellect: vista or xp
12:58:08 cgs_bob: xp
12:58:34 timlinux: cgs_bob, you may need to install the vcredist
12:58:37 timlinux: 1 sec for url
12:59:32 timlinux: cgs_bob, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b2da534-3e03-4391-8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf&displaylang=en
12:59:57 cgs_bob: timlinux: I'll give it a shot...I'll brb
13:08:31 timlinux: cgs_bob, if it works I'll add a note to the download page
13:09:40 cgs_bob: timlinux: looks like I need admin privs to install vcredist. I was hoping that I could put everything on a pendrive
13:10:59 timlinux: cgs_bob, hmm in theory it should run ( except for vcredist )
13:11:35 cgs_bob: timlinux: it=qgis? : )
13:13:50 cgs_bob: btw, I am also having problems running qgis from osgeo4w, but I have no problems with grass
13:15:15 timlinux: cgs_bob, it may be the same issue then
13:15:23 timlinux: cgs_bob, is this a clean installed machine?
13:15:53 timlinux: cgs_bob, yes it-qgis
13:16:01 cgs_bob: timlinux: yup...this is my first time running qgis on this computer
13:16:51 timlinux: cgs_bob, normally the vcredist dlls get installed with e.g. office
13:17:02 timlinux: so if its a clean machine you need to install them yourself
13:17:50 cgs_bob: I have office 2000, so office might be too old?
13:19:37 cgs_bob: I was thinking of using wine to install vcredist and put the dlls somewhere in the qgis tree...but there are a lot of files that get installed
13:23:06 jef: cgs_bob: and just copying the dlls doesn't work
13:24:13 timlinux: cgs_bob, office 2000 prolly has the msvc 7 dlls instead of msvc9 ( or whatever the version numbers are )
13:24:23 cgs_bob: I guess this is one of the dangers of using up to date windows c++ runtime libraries...you'll have people who can't install them
13:24:56 cgs_bob: jef: was that a question or a statement? : )
13:25:10 cgs_bob: I haven't tried to copy them yet
13:27:35 jef: cgs_bob: that won't work - unless you copy the dlls and manifests to every single directory where binaries ( ie. exe and dlls ) that depend on them live
13:29:24 cgs_bob: jef: ok...then I won't even try. windows is such a pain!
13:44:52 cgs_bob: as an experiment, I tried to install qgis with wine. wine QGIS-1.1.0-0-Setup.exe gave me a "Installer integrity check has failed" error
13:50:07 timlinux: cgs_bob, the same installer runs ok in win?
13:56:09 cgs_bob: timlinux: it seems to. btw, I just tried "wine QGIS-1.0.0-Setup.exe" . didn't get the same error, but qgis won't run because it couldn't find the qt ( and other ) dll's
14:02:48 timlinux: cgs_bob, ok no idea why that is
14:03:37 cgs_bob: timlinux: I'm going to try installing qgis on a different machine...brb
14:20:42 timlinux: cgs_bob, I gotta crash in about 5min .. sorry :-(
14:30:34 timlinux: cgs_bob, any luck?
