02:47:17 spacedman: hey guys, after the chat yesterday about putting the map extent on the clipboard for cut n paste purposes, has anyone any ideas of other useful things that might be handy to have pasted to the clipboard?
03:08:19 cfarmer: hmm, is anyone else having trouble accessing the irc logs
03:10:07 aghisla: cfarmer: I do
03:32:14 cfarmer: aghisla: ok, so it's not just my connection... thanks...
03:53:05 cfarmer: \join #postgis
03:53:12 cfarmer: oops
07:34:12 CGI121: dose anyone in here know how to set up grass for mac?
07:36:08 CGI121: I wants me to set up a project location?
07:37:06 FrankW: CGI121: do you have a pre-existing grass database?
07:37:25 CGI121: I dont think so.
07:37:46 FrankW: Could you past the exact text of the question?
07:37:47 CGI121: my question is how would I create that?
07:37:50 FrankW: past -> paste
07:38:04 CGI121: just a sec.
07:38:14 FrankW: Often there is a separate download for a grass database like the spearfish database.
07:38:24 FrankW: I must admit I'm not sure how it is accomplished with the mac installer.
07:39:36 CGI121: There is just a box for the setup that wants me to set up a Project location or a Project coordinate system.
07:40:24 FrankW: Is this still part of the installer, or is this the "location selection" dialog that comes up after you start grass?
07:40:49 CGI121: there is also a box for accessible mapset
07:41:42 FrankW: This sounds like the dialog that comes after starting grass which is to select a mapset within an existing grass database.
07:42:12 FrankW: I don't seem to have a running grass system handy so I can't try it out myself to confirm.
07:42:19 FrankW: Anyone else who can help a new grass user?
07:42:32 CGI121: I think that it is the location selection dialog that come up after I start grass, but it just asks for those locations before it will let me enter grass.
07:44:15 FrankW: right - if you have an existing database it should provide mechanisms to select from the existing ( demo ) locations and mapsets.
07:46:04 CGI121: well where could I go to get a database that will give me the locations and mapsets?
07:47:43 cfarmer_: CGI121: you can get an existing GRASS location etc. from the qgis sample data I think: http://www.qgis.org/en/download/sample-data.html
07:47:46 sigq: Title: Sample Data ( at www.qgis.org )
07:47:58 FrankW: Or http://grass.osgeo.org/download/data.php
07:47:59 sigq: Title: GRASS GIS: Sample Data Download ( at grass.osgeo.org )
07:50:41 CGI121: ok that gives me Alaska sample data.
07:53:15 CGI121: ok Frank let me give you some info on me.
07:53:59 CGI121: I graduated a couple of years ago with a BS in Geography.
07:55:25 CGI121: I found out that there was a program for the mac that could do GIS instead of the morbidly expensive ARC GIS software.
07:57:45 FrankW: CGI121: gotcha
07:57:57 FrankW: I would note the spearfish example data is what is used in many of the tutorials around GRASS
07:58:07 FrankW: I would encourage you to try and follow a new users tutorial.
07:58:47 markusN: I would note the spearfish dataset is fairly old and the North Carolina data set much richer and recent
07:58:56 markusN: http://grass.osgeo.org/download/data.php
07:58:56 FrankW: Ah, good point.
07:58:56 sigq: Title: GRASS GIS: Sample Data Download ( at grass.osgeo.org )
07:59:04 markusN: also available in common GIS formats
07:59:08 markusN: ( see there )

13:22:43 doktoreas: hello folks
13:22:53 doktoreas: anyone using 1.1.0 for windows?
13:23:06 doktoreas: the image preview in the print composer is not working..
13:23:54 macho: only in the windows version?
13:24:08 : * macho is currently compiling svn trunk
13:26:18 sigq: tracfeed: Ticket #1699 ( bug created ): Add Image preview not working in printing composer <https://trac.osgeo.org/qgis/ticket/1699>
13:27:38 doktoreas: macho, yes, the trunk inside linux is ok
13:29:17 timlinux: hi all
13:29:19 timlinux: macho, hi
13:29:25 timlinux: did you fix the table?
13:34:28 cgs_bob_: Hello all. Is there a way to replace an attribute table field with nulls?
13:34:59 doktoreas: hi timlinux !
13:35:04 timlinux: cgs_bob_, afaik no
13:35:16 timlinux: doktoreas, hi! Hows the 3d stuff going?
13:35:24 timlinux: doktoreas, any new screenshots?
13:35:27 doktoreas: 3d ?
13:35:43 doktoreas: I a wokring on the ws plugin :D
13:35:47 doktoreas: *wps
13:47:11 macho: hi timlinux
13:47:38 racicot: cgs_bob_: is your data in postgis or shape?
13:48:34 macho: timlinux: otto did it in the afternoon - i only looked a bit on the code - but it's been ok - so i decided to translate a bit and adapt the translation statistics page to fit the new wiki syntax
13:49:48 cgs_bob_: racicot: it's in shapfile. so my next step was to export my shapefile to postgis and do an update query there. it's just too bad that I have to go through the trouble
13:50:29 racicot: sounds like you are on the path of least resistance at the moment though... sorry it is not easier
13:51:33 timlinux: macho, does it still have that resize issue?
13:52:19 macho: should be solved now by providing a fixed table width
13:52:53 macho: but probably it's still not gone - I do not have the problem now .. and it never occured to me again - we'll see if any further reports come in
13:53:32 macho: I'll rewrite the template as soon as I get sure not to be kicked out of my company for being a fool the last 3 weeks
13:53:55 macho: nothing i touch is working right now .. bad luck days for me
13:54:11 racicot: macho: :-(
13:54:33 macho: bad things happen sometimes .. I hope it'll go away soon
13:56:07 macho: timlinux: i added a few pages in the new wiki ..
13:56:21 macho: especially translation statistics
13:56:42 timlinux: macho, hehe
13:57:22 cgs_bob_: racicot: yes I am, but if you have other ideas, I'm all easr : )
13:57:27 timlinux: macho, if they start getting troublesome let us know and we will arrange a qgis flash mob to gather at your work and petition for your continued employment
13:57:56 timlinux: macho, I'd quite like to keep the jquery table if you have fixed it by specifying width
13:58:11 timlinux: not sure how others feel
13:58:39 macho: timlinux: yeah its a nice table - but - i have to look if we can still enable the editor again - cause it will be easier to maintain the pages
13:59:17 timlinux: macho, I would just enable the editor
13:59:36 timlinux: and the I'll just disable it for the duration of editing the stable and unstable story pages
14:00:17 macho: yeah - but i'm sure someday .. one will forget to disable it during editing and we will loose the header ..
14:00:52 timlinux: macho, I have a local backup of the html - Im probably going to put it in svn or something too
14:01:40 macho: ok
14:02:02 macho: and i look if theres an editor out there which provides header editing ; )
14:06:01 timlinux: that will be great
14:20:53 macho: timlinux: have you seen http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/edition/custom-code-in-content/5051/details ?
