21:01:19 cgs_bob_: j03lar50n: I was just trying to build EasyGeoTagger and got the same error. btw, I'm still on hardy heron
21:01:37 j03lar50n: hrm - that's good to know i'm not alone cgs_bob
21:02:05 cgs_bob_: j03lar50n: I also found this interesting email: http://osdir.com/ml/lfs.cross/2006-03/msg00113.html
21:02:07 j03lar50n: and those instructions are for heron right?
21:02:07 sigq: Title: Re: Build kdebase fails )-:: msg#00113 ( at osdir.com )
21:03:22 cgs_bob_: not sure : ) no...they are for ibex
21:03:41 j03lar50n: were you Compiling EasyGeoTagger on Linux or Compiling EasyGeoTagger Addons for QGIS via https://trac.biodiversityinformatics.amnh.org/projects/easygeotagger/wiki/BuildInstructions_Linux
21:03:42 sigq: Title: BuildInstructions_Linux – EasyGeoTagger – Trac ( at trac.biodiversityinformatics.amnh.org )
21:04:32 j03lar50n: maybe a ticket should be filed }?{
21:04:36 cgs_bob_: I was not doing the plugin
21:05:39 cgs_bob_: definitely!
21:08:21 j03lar50n: i cannot get the plugin working either...thought i could just drop libevis.so in /usr/lib/qgis and go - guess not
21:08:59 cgs_bob_: I'll have to try the plugin route and see if I get the same error
21:34:14 cgs_bob_: j03lar50n: I figured it out : )
21:34:26 j03lar50n: no way!
21:34:47 cgs_bob_: yes way : ) it is an easy fix.
21:35:12 j03lar50n: how much do i have to pay you?
21:35:18 cgs_bob_: just add -fPIC to CFLAGS in the libraw makefile
21:35:40 cgs_bob_: darn! I let out the secret
21:36:07 j03lar50n: hrm - well, i will examine that...but this will definitely be new territory for me
21:36:52 cgs_bob_: the error message was refering to libraw, not easygt
21:37:00 j03lar50n: yes
21:37:22 cgs_bob_: it said to use -fPIC so I did : )
21:37:43 j03lar50n: i thought i could just use that as a flag when i ran cmake ..
21:40:18 cgs_bob_: nope...you don't build libraw with cmake. just good ol' make. so do a make clean in the libraw directory, edit the Makefile and add -fPIC to the end of the line with CFLAGS, and then make && sudo make install
21:41:01 j03lar50n: groovy, thanks cgs_bob another Can o' Fat Tire should get me through that ; )
21:41:44 cgs_bob_: well, you did offer to pay me...can I have one too? : )
21:42:24 j03lar50n: you can - i grabbed a 12'er...wish i could give ya a few
21:43:22 cgs_bob_: maybe when we meet at out next CA OSGEO meeting : )
21:44:30 j03lar50n: yes, definitely! and i won't do that dang virtual appearance like last time. that way we won't have to do virutal beers either ; )
21:45:18 cgs_bob_: that's right...you're in San Diego right?
21:46:04 j03lar50n: was in Lompoc ( Santa Barbara County, actually still am ) but just took a new job in San Luis Obispo ( SLO County )
21:46:19 j03lar50n: commuting for now, still looking for a place
21:47:47 j03lar50n: remind me where you're located?
21:47:50 cgs_bob_: cool! so were you affected in any way by the fires?
21:48:16 cgs_bob_: I'm in Sacramento, so I had a very short trip to the meeting : )
21:48:34 j03lar50n: no, although I do now work *in* fire ( an agency )
21:49:08 j03lar50n: because I took a new job, my supt said no out of county responses to do fire mapping for 1 yr
21:49:10 cgs_bob_: you're with the state?
21:49:15 j03lar50n: yes
21:50:16 cgs_bob_: state worker here : ) enjoying the two days off per month ?
21:51:45 j03lar50n: well, kinda yeah actually with my move and all. but we, supposedly can 'bank' them
